Cost of Laser Tag equipment
Paintball equipment is rather expensive. The player, in the case they don't play with leased equipment, needs to have an electronic paintball marker, electronic feeder, CO2 Tank, zeroed guns, a speed feed for a feeder (magazine), etc. If you are an experienced player, you will need professional equipment, and it usually costs from $700 to $1000. In addition, you will need to have a mask and your own protective clothing, which is additional $200+ . Add to this a set of professional-grade pellets for each game and you get the initial costs from $1000 to $1300. Of course, it costs far less than professional equipment for such sports like skiing and сarting, but it's still quite expensive to be involved in this kind of sports. It is exactly the same situation in airsoft. A proper airsoft gun is worth about $500, protective gear would be about $200, but the main problem is that lots of airsoft players and teams try to imitate various real army units (it is called historical reenactment), so you will need to get a real sample or a replica of complete set of individual equipment, such as battle dress, bulletproof vests, helmets, footwear, ammunition harnesses and so on in order to get accepted into a high-end team. This is also around another couple of thousands (or even more) of your hard-earned.
If you want to be a laser tag enthusiast, you need only a decent Tagger and convenient outfit. The tagger will cost you up to a couple of hundred of dollars, and as for the outfit, you can use anything you want. You do not have restrictions regarding the authenticity or sheer need for protection. As a result, getting equipped as a veteran player in tactical laser tag will cost you $400-500 dollars, which is 3-4 times less than in paintball or airsoft.
