The MG42, also known as the Maschinengewehr 42, is a German belt-fed, air-cooled machine gun that was developed during World War II. It was designed to be a high-volume, rapid-fire weapon capable of providing suppressive fire against enemy troops. After the war, it was used by many countries around the world, and it remains a popular weapon in some militaries and among collectors today.

Various modifications of this machine gun, such as the MG 45, 51, 3, 74, were widely used after World War II and are still in use today in more than 20 countries.

This MG42 machine gun, a legendary weapon that once served as the inspiration for the M56 Smartgun in the Aliens movie and the BlasTech DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle in Star Wars, is now available in a laser tag version. The laser tag gun features a rugged metal airsoft body with textured overlays on the grip for a secure hold. The wooden buttstock has a distinctive "fish tail" shape that provides comfortable shoulder support and allows for left-handed positioning when firing from a bipod. The laser tag machine gun weighs 12.3 lbs (5.6 kg) and measures 53.1 inches (135 cm) in length.

The sectorial rear sight has 100 meters increments of and the optimum range of fire is 820 feet (250 meters) with the Prism optical laser tag system and 1,300 feet (400 meters) with the Parallax system.

One of the notable design features of the laser tag machine gun is the drum magazine, which has a gun switch on lock that can be operated with a special key, a power socket, and a reload button. The magazine also contains a speaker that produces a loud sound due to the metal and acoustic properties of the magazine.
