The SVD is considered one of the most popular sniper rifles in the world, although there is still some debate as to whether is should be considered it a full-fledged sniper rifle (which mainly includes bolt action rifles) or a marksman rifle. This rifle has proven to be a reliable weapon in almost all local wars in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, it was already used at the end of the Vietnam War, proved itself in Afghanistan, was used in the Iraq conflict, in Yugoslavia, and also in the war in Syria. Despite its Soviet past, it is still used not only in 30 countries traditionally associated with the USSR, but also in some NATO countries, and China (Type 79 and Type 85 rifles ripoffs).
Since the SVD-S was created for the airborne special forces units, which were not suited for a long and heavy sniper rifle that did not allow successful airborne assaults, the SVD-S version differs from the classic SVD in its reduced length. In addition, the classic SVD rifle did not meet the requirements of some mobile armored infantry units, as its size made it difficult to transport on infantry fighting vehicles.
This SVD-S laser tag sniper rifle is built on the basis of a dummy gun, which why it is included in our Steel Series. This is an extremely reliable model that is not even a replica of a military weapon, but its factory deactivated counterpart. The rifle is made of military grade steel with military grade plastic inserts.
As with our other taggers, all of the laser tag electronics are integrated into the housing. The only exception is the laser tag’s optical system, which is made in the form of a tube similar to a silencer in the Prism version, or a muzzle brake in the Parallax version.
The laser tag sniper rifle’s buttstock of a folds to the side and differs from the classic SVD in its lightweight skeletal design.
For maximum authenticity, we left the rotation on by setting the safety catch to the combat position.
Reloading (changing a virtual magazine) is done by moving the charging handle.
The sniper rifle is equipped with a powerful 2,200 mAh battery inside that lasts up to 36 hours without recharging. The charging port is located on the rifle magazine.
The range of fire is greater than our Assault or SMG class rifles and is about 820 feet (250 meters) with Prism optics and about 1,300 feet (400 meters) with Parallax optics. Naturally, to hit the enemy at such a range, the player will already need a telescopic sight, which is purchased separately as an option. The user can install any third party telescopic sights using a special dovetail adapter mounted on the left side of the SVD body.
The length of the rifle is 48.4 inches (123 centimeters) with the stock folded and 53.5 inches (136 centimeters) with the stock unfolded.
The weight is 9 lbs (4.1 kg)
