The FN Minimi is a light machine gun designed and manufactured by the Belgian firearms company FN Herstal. It was first introduced in the late 1970s and has since become a widely used weapon by military and law enforcement agencies in more than 75 countries around the world. One of the key features of the FN Minimi is its versatility. It can be fired from the shoulder or mounted on a tripod or other support. The FN Minimi was originally designed to replace the FN MAG general-purpose machine gun in the Belgian military service, and it has since been adopted by many other countries. It has been used in a wide range of conflicts, including the Falklands War, the Gulf War, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The weapon has gone through several design iterations over the years, improving to its reliability, accuracy, and ergonomics. The latest version of the FN Minimi is the Mk3.
The FN Minimi (M249 SAW) airsoft gun body is used as a source for this laser tag machine gun. The body is made of metal with aluminum inserts, while the buttstock is made of ABS plastic. All LASERWAR electronics are fully integrated into the laser tagger. To reload and turn on the tagger, just push the button. When designing this machine gun, we prioritized reliability over authenticity. Although it is quite heavy and cumbersome to carry it with a sling, the machine gun is equipped with handles for easy transport.
The base version of the M249 laser tag machine gun comes equipped with a bipod and RIS rails for installing additional equipment. Collimator or telescopic sights can be mounted on the RIS rails, while the base tagger features a front and rear iron sights. The speaker is located inside the magazine, which improves its acoustic characteristics.
Players and laser tag operators should take note that this tagger is quite heavy, weighing in at 15.4 lbs (7 kg).
The M249 machine gun can be equipped with any generation of electronics, such as the 9th generation, which features offline statistics, or the 10th generation and Alphatag, which provides online scoring and the ability to connect multiple taggers to one player. The Feedback option is also available for an additional fee.
The FN Minimi laser tagger can support two types of optical laser tag systems. The Prism optics provide a range of up to 820 feet (250 meters), while the Parallax optics provide a range of up to 1,300 feet (400 meters) with a narrow infrared beam.
This laser tag version of the machine gun is powered by a 2.2 Ah rechargeable battery, providing up to 36 hours of gameplay without recharging. Battery life on a single charge depends on the use of options such as online statistics transmission to the game server and Feedback simulation, which uses a vibration motor inside the tagger's body.
